Advent Calendar — December 3rd

The way children are greeted each morning provides an emotional map for the rest of the day. Warm welcomes, such as a smile, gentle eye contact or using a child’s name, support feelings of safety and belonging. Today, spend a moment observing the arrival period and notice which pupils may need extra connection.

When morning routines feel consistent, children settle more quickly and are less likely to carry anxiety into lessons. These simple relational moments quietly communicate “You matter and you are welcome here.” A child who starts the day feeling safe is far more able to learn, engage and connect with others.
