"Who's in Charge?" is a 9-week programme for parents and carers of children who use violent and abusive behaviour towards them, or who currently appear to be beyond parental control.

About the "Who's in Charge? " Programme

This 9-week programme is designed for parents and carers of children who use violent and abusive behaviour towards them, or who currently appear to be beyond parental control.

The Who's in Charge? programme may be suitable for you if:

  • — you feel you are struggling to maintain control,
  • — and/or if you feel you have lost parental control,
  • — and/or if your child or young person is violent towards you physically and/or verbally,
  • — and if you would like to regain parental control

What will you gain from this course?

Through a mix of discussions, practical exercises, and emotional support, you will:

  • Feel less isolated - connect with other parents who truly understand
  • Overcome guilt - recognise that parenting is challenging, and you are not alone
  • Build confidence - develop assertiveness and self-care strategies
  • Understand behaviour - explore the many factors influencing your child’s actions
  • Set clear boundaries - learn how to define what is acceptable and unacceptable
  • Manage anger - reflect on both your child’s anger and your own responses
  • Find practical strategies - discover ways to introduce meaningful consequences, even when your child refuses to cooperate
  • Believe in change - gain hope and tools to create positive shifts in your family life
